Dr. M's Blog
Business leadership, creativity, innovation, diversity and bringing your spirit to work - this is my personal journey
Hello from Dr. M

I'm working on my book, "Bring Your Spirit to Work" and it's difficult finding the right balance between anecdotes, theory, and practical advice.

Developing your leadership perspective is at top of my mind the last few days.  Working with organizations and groups to define leadership is interesting...in a business world where action is everything, it's difficult to suggest to someone to switch gears for a few days or hours to reflect, listen and dialogue about leadership and what it means to you.

What it really means.

78% of the business leaders who have participated in my leadership survey agree that Time for reflection is an important element of leadership and Reflection is a means of growth as a human being.

So, this blog is a way for me to think and reflect.  How about you?  How do you reflect on your leadership perspective?

I agree that reflection is a necessary component of leadership. It is not a 'time out'--it is an obligation to ensure we are doing the right thing and interpreting the world around us correctly. One who charges forward without looking around, sideways, back, and forth is bound to miss a lot of clues and inspiration along the way.

I am the PIs of one of the National Centers of Excellence (CoE) in Women's Health in the US. We encourage and promote a multi-faceted approach to women's health. Leadership roles are key to this. Your whole-person leadership approach is much appreciated and very much in line with what we believe and, hopefully, practice. I look forward to reading more!
