Courageous, Entrepreneurial Women Who Bring Their Spirit to Work
Take a look around this week and identify the women in your life who are creative, entrepreneurial, and courageous. I'm busy these days contacting individuals to request book cover blurbs for Bring Your Spirit to Work: One Woman at a Time. Unexpectedly last Friday I had the opportunity to spend some personal time with two of my dearest friends. As we enjoyed lunch and caught up with what's been happening in each other's lives, I realized how fortunate I am to be supported by outstanding, results-oriented women. There's Tara who as President of the New Jersey OD Network works relentlessly to bring transformational leadership to organizations and individuals; Ann Therese Kelly, CSSF, a super talented woman who designs stained glass windows that reflect the integration of creativity and the spiritual values of joy, color, competency, and love; Jerry, who founded Sustainable Solutions to build enduring business solutions that integrate profits, people, and a sense of liability for the earth; Karen, co-founder of www.curlygirlcakes.com, who balances family, corporate, and entrepreneurial life; Carol, Ireland's sole female National Office in the Communications Worker's Union; Judith recently named one of her firm's leading women in a company that's predominantly male; Betsy who achieved Women's Business Owned Enterprise designation in less than a year of founding her company; and, finally my Mom, Mary, who takes each day as it comes and always believes in the future. One of the aims of my book is to encourage women to believe in themselves and what they have to offer the world. These women have a big dream and the spirit to relentlessly pursue their dreams. So...my reflection questions this week are directed to organizations as well as women: 1) Does your organization value women's ability to contribute to innovation? 2) What's your big dream? 3) Do you believe in your core competencies?
Til next time, Dr. M.
