Workshop Title: Building Meaningful Products and Services
Commitment to a common goal and mission that serves your customers is not easy to achieve; it is a daunting task. With the advent of automation and contingency work for a few dollars/euros a day on the rise, the connection between customers, employees, and their organizations have diminished.
In the 21st century global economy, leaders must develop and practice a higher level of leadership perspective that connects customers and employees conceptually. The ability to quickly adopt new ways of designing meaningful products and services are critical to an organization's success.
Successful businesses adopt new ways of designing how they serve their clients. This workshop is for anyone in the organization who is responsible for developing and delivering products and services. It is for leaders who want to create a workplace that focuses on vision, purpose, and meaning. It is for leaders who know they must create stronger communities among their clients and employees.
Workshop Benefits This workshop assists leadership and team members to learn about models and techniques that support your goal to bring meaningful design to your organization's products and services. Models and techniques explored may include:
- Appreciative Inquiry
- Collaborative Design
- Action Dialogue (as a way of thinking and learning together)

"Design, stripped to its essence, can be defined as the human nature to shape and make our environment in ways without precedent in nature, to serve our needs and give meaning to our lives." ~John Heskett, Toothpicks and Logos: Design in Everyday Life

Appreciative Inquiry is a 4-step process that allows organizations to implement transformative changes by building on what has worked in the past. Participants explore the following questions:
- If we leave behind controlling directives and dictated results, how do we retain our focus?
- What are the small changes that can bring large effects?
- What can I do to create the container for collaboration and dialogue?
- How do I empower this process in my organization?
Workshop Approach The definition of meaningful design and service is explored through dialogue, personal inquiry, and personal reflection. Processes such as Appreciative Inquiry are presented in experiential, interactive workgroups. Participants bring current challenges and topics to develop action plans.
