Leaders lead change. In the 21st century global economy, effective organizations adapt quickly as the marketplace changes. Change does not occur in environments where there is distrust and lack of respect or commitment for the emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being of the organization's members. This workshop topic is for everyone in the organization, including the executive leadership.

The data, demonstrating that human-oriented management practice consistently increases economic performance of companies that follow it when compared to companies in the same economic section that do not, is piling up. When people feel they are part of a web of connection and part of a community, then they go the distance for each other; not because they have to, but because they want to. Leadership is about engaging others and forming a community.

Workshop Benefits
This workshop assists leadership and team members to bring their whole self to the organization's mission. It leads participants to evaluate work practices and changes through these questions:

  • Do our work practices and changes convey and create trust?
  • How can I contribute?
  • How can I engage others?
  • What is dear and important to my heart?
  • What are we doing differently this year?

"It is almost impossible to implement high-commitment work practices in the absence of mutual trust and respect."
~Jeffrey Pfeffer, Stanford Graduate School of Business, professor, researcher, and economist

Workshop Approach
Interwoven into the workshop's content is the principle that we are all learners and we are all teachers. The definition of whole person leadership is explored through the work of business leaders, such as Tom Chappell, who have focused on building community and personal wholeness into their companies. Questions related to how to operationalize whole person leadership in an organization are explored through processes and techniques such as communities of practice, common values, and shared sense of purpose.
